Maria first set foot on Cyprus in 1938, but was to make it her home. This is the first part of her story, recording her initial impressions of a tiny, beautiful, unknown island.

We continue our excursion to the mountains through the Marathasa valley. After leaving Pedoulas, we find ourselves entering the Troodos forest.

We follow our route through the Cyprus mountains, travelling through the beautiful and contrasting villages of Moutoullas and Pedoulas.

It’s spring and a journey in the countryside is a must in Cyprus.  If you’d care to accompany me, I will take you on a journey to the Troodos mountains, and we’ll follow an adverse route which passes through the Marathasa valley.
